Saunders Confused Over Khan’s Reality Show
Amir Khan has decided to compete again. Not inside the boxing ring, but on the popular reality program “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here,” which has Billy Joe Saunders confused.
Saunders, who threw a challenge at Khan earlier this year that, does not understand why Khan would to a reality show for £ 100,000, instead of fight for millions.
Khan is more than likely not going to fight above welterweight following his last fight at 155, when he was knocked out by Canelo Alvarez in 2016.
Even though Saunders got the brush off, he finds it odd that Khan would not fight former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, for a payday worth millions.
“Listen, good luck to him,” said Saunders to Sky Sports. “His biggest money fight is Kell Brook.
“If I had been him, I wouldn’t have worried about going into the celebrity jungle for 100 grand or so, I would fight Kell Brook for four or five million. Clearly not, but good luck to him, whatever he decides to do.”
Saunders while preparing to face David Lemieux in December, also had some choice words for IBO super middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr., who faces WBA champion George Groves in a semi-final bout in the World Boxing Super Series tournament – in the first quarter of 2018.
“I don’t really care if he can win it or not,” said Saunders.
“He’s one of them that I personally don’t think he’s a true super-middleweight. He holds the IBO [title], but that’s nothing is it, let’s face it. I hope George Groves fares well for him, because that could be a great fight.”
