Serrano To Fight On Andrade vs. Akavov Undercard
Women’s boxing star Amanda Serrano will fight in an upcoming boxing card on DAZN in another world title bout.
Serrano will take on multi-time champion Eva Voraberger on January 18, 2019 for the vacant WBO super flyweight title. The fight will take place at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden and will be one of several fights announced for the undercard of Demetrius Andrade’s WBO middleweight title fight against Artur Akavov.
The women’s title fight could potentially be historic as Serrano is chasing a world title in a seventh weight class. Serrano, the current WBO junior welterweight titleholder, owns the women’s boxing and Puerto Rican record for most titles won in different weight classes with six. A super flyweight title would put Serrano in an exclusive club of boxers to have won a world title in at least seven divisions that only includes Manny Pacquiao.
Voraberger has previously held word titles at flyweight and super flyweight and her last two fights saw Voraberger win, and then retain, the interim WBC women’s bantamweight title.
Also joining Serrano vs. Voraberger as part of the undercard for the January 18 show is former lightweight champion Jorge Linares taking on Pablo Cesar Cano. Former junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri will face on once-beaten Daniel Gonzalez on the undercard as well.
