Spence “Licking His Chops” For Fight With Garcia
After watching Mikey Garcia take a unanimous decision win over Robert Easter Jr, Errol Spence Jr. claimed that he didn’t see anything that would make him scared to fight the California native.
Speaking to a group of reporters following Garcia’s lightweight unification fight at Staples Center, Spence claimed that he’s aiming at “November, December” for a fight with Spence. Garcia is up for the challenge as well, looking to move from lightweight to welterweight to square off with Spence.
“It’s an easy fight to make,” Spence said. “Showtime’s on board. I mean, both of our management’s on board. So I mean, it’s an easy fight to make.”
Spence confirmed both men have discussed the potential fight with Al Haymon, who advises both boxers.
“I’m definitely licking my chops,” Spence said. “I’m excited.”
“He looked like the same Mikey Garcia,” Spence said of Garcia’s performance. “It was a good technical fight that he fought. You know, he showed his variety of punches, he showed his boxing ability.”
“He’s technically sound and he’s very smart in the ring. So it will be a challenge, but you know, I’m always confident in my abilities and I know I’ll come out with the victory.”
