Still No Opponent Announced For Fury Return
With a little over a month until he returns to the ring, Tyson Fury and Frank Warren held another press conference Thursday for the June 9th event
Fury, who will fight for the first time in nearly three years, announced that Terry Flanagan will be added to the card in a fight against Maurice Hooker for the vacant WBO light welterweight title on June 9th in Manchester.
During Thursday’s media event Fury reiterated that he wants a crack at Anthony Joshua, which Warren claims would be the “biggest sporting event” of his life.
“The two-and-a half years I have had out of the ring have helped me a lot,” Fury said about his time away from the ring due to issues with the British Boxing Board of Control and substance abuse issues.
“Before I had a point to prove that I’m the best heavyweight on the planet. That fire is back again now—I can’t describe how delighted I am to be back.”
“My calling card is boxing and I have been blessed to have a talent that not many people have,” he added.
“If I can come back from where I’ve been then anyone can. I am the people’s Champion and I’m finally going to get the chance to entertain the people of Manchester on June 9. Be there or be square.”
