Tarver Charged With Domestic Battery
According to a report from TMZ, retired boxer Antonio Tarver was arrested on Monday night for domestic battery in Florida.
The 49 year old would be taken into custody around 7pm and held for 24 hours after posting a $1,000 bond.
According to WFLA, a Tampa area news station, Tarver is accused of hitting his girlfriend’s 18-year-old son in the mouth with his fist during an argument in his home.
The incident occurred around 4:45 pm when the alleged victim, Aziya Taylor called 911.
Police arrived to see Taylor bleeding from the mouth, and the 18 year old claiming that he was attacked by Tarver, who he identified as his stepfather.
The issue stemmed from an incident earlier that morning when Taylor was unable to cover their breakfast at a local Waffle House.
When they got back to the house, Aziya said Tarver “bum-rushed” him and struck him in the face.
Taylor would tell police that the former world champion boxer punched him again and then threw him into the garage and locked the door. Aziya says he escaped and called police.
Tarver would tell the police that the altercation did in fact occur, but that Taylor’s lip was busted open when he “tripped and fell” during the confrontation and not from his fist.
Ultimately, cops sided with Taylor, and arrested Tarver for domestic battery.
Tarver had a prior run in with the law in 2014 over an unpaid gambling debt at the Wynn Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
