Teixeira-Cirkunov Headlines Oct. 28 Card
During the UFC Mexico broadcast, the UFC announced that a battle between two top-10 light heavyweight contenders will headline the UFC’s next trip to Brazil.
Glover Teixeira and Misha Cirkunov will do battle in the main event of the UFC Fight Night event scheduled for Oct. 28 at the Ginasio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo.
Currently ranked No. 4 in the UFC’s light heavyweight rankings, Teixeira will come into this fight off of a loss to Alexander Gustafsson at a UFC Fight Night event in Stockholm, Sweden that took place back in May. Earlier this year at UFC 208, Teixeira scored a decision win over Jared Cannonier. He has gone 4-2 in the UFC since 2015.
His opponent, Cirkunov, also last competed on that same Stockholm card, and he will also come into this bout off of a loss. At said event, Cirkunov was knocked out in 28 seconds by Volkan Oezdemir, who recently knocked out Jimi Manuwa at UFC 214 before calling out the winner of that night’s Light Heavyweight Championship fight.
Prior to the loss in Stockholm, however, Cirkunov racked up eight wins in a row, which included four bouts in the UFC.
