The Saturday Seven For August 26th

Welcome to the special SATURDAY SEVEN!  As we approach the start of tonight’s Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather fight, here are the stories you’ll want to know heading to your fight party!

1. Tickets are still available!

As of Thursday, there were still around 1,500 tickets remaining on StubHub for the mega fight at the T-Mobile Arena. And while this may be a surprise to some due to the massive amount of coverage and conversation across social and traditional media since this fight was announced.

2. Floyd is walking in 4 1/2 pounds lighter than Conor.

With the weight limit being 145 pounds for tonight’s super welterweight clash, both fighters appeared at the public weigh-in yesterday.
McGregor came in one pound below the limit at 144 pounds and Mayweather walked in to the weigh-in at 139 1/2 pounds. It’ll be interesting to see if that adds any power to McGregor’s punches.

3. Paul Maliginaggi

At his final pre-fight workout, Floyd Mayweather was visited by Paulie Malignaggi, one of the commentators covering the event, and Conor McGregor’s one time sparring partner.

4. 50-0.

Floyd Mayweather is one win away from breaking Rocky Marciano’s record of 49-0. Mayweather claims this is his last fight and Rocky Marciano Jr feels this shouldn’t count towards the record set by his father, and he along with Lennox Lewis feel this fight is a farce.

5. The money belt:
WBC president Mauricio Sulaimán revealed a new wrinkle. Mauricio Sulaimán has unveiled the WBC Money Belt, which will be given to the winner of the 12 round fight at the T-Mobile Arena.
