Two Title Fights Headline UFC 215

UFC 215 takes place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on September 9 and will be headlined by two title fights. In the headliner, flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will take on Ray Borg. The women’s bantamweight bout between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko will serve as the co-main event.

TSN confirmed the news after speaking with UFC President Dana White.

The fight is a potentially historic one for Johnson, who will break the record for consecutive title defenses with eleven if he defeats Borg.

Borg enters the fight with just a two-fight winning streak, but is the highest-ranked fighter that ‘Mighty Mouse’ hasn’t already beaten.

The rematch between Nunes and Shevchenko had been set for UFC 213 in July, but Nunes pulled out of the fight mere hours before the event due to a health issue. The two previously met at UFC 196 in March of last year, where Nunes beat Shevchenko by unanimous decision. She then went on to win the women’s bantamweight championship from Miesha Tate before defeating former champ Ronda Rousey, both wins coming via first-round stoppage.
