UFC 211 Gate Figures, Bonuses Awarded
UFC 211 took place on Saturday, May 13, from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, where a crowd of 17,834 attended for a gate of $2,662,645.
Out of the four UFC events held in Dallas thus far, the event just cracked the top spot for biggest live gate, and it placed second in attendance. UFC 171, held in March 2014 and main evented by Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler for the then-vacant UFC welterweight championship, drew a crowd of 19,324 with a gate of $2.6 million.
Fight of the Night honors went to heavyweights Chase Sherman and Rashad Coulter for their bout on the FX prelims. Coulter took the fight on two weeks’ notice and injured his leg during the fight. Despite this, Coulter fired away at everything Sherman handed out, even stunning Sherman at one point. The two traded heavy shot after shot until Coulter went down and Sherman got the TKO win.
Performance bonuses went to UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and Jason Knight. Miocic successfully retained his title against Junior Dos Santos, winning in just 2:22, in the main event. Knight won his fourth straight bout, scoring a TKO over Chas Skelly in the third round of their prelim bout. This was the first time Skelly was stopped in his pro MMA career.
