UFC 226 PPV Buys Estimated Under 400,000

Even with a heavyweight superfight in the main event, the early numbers for UFC’s return to Pay Per View do not look promising.

Per MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer, the UFC were banking on this event to be the biggest of 2018 up to this point, but early estimates have the card headlined by Daniel Cormier defeating Stipe Miocic by first round KO, as under 400,000 buys.

The early indications for UFC 226 are disappointing, as the prelims prior to the pay-per-view did 668,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1. The number was almost identical to UFC 225 on June 9, which did 667,000 viewers.

The Preliminary card on FS1 would draw only 668,000 viewers to the network, an almost identical number to UFC 225 on June 9th, with 667,000 viewers. Yet, it would win the evening as the top cable sports network, and third across all sports telecasts behind NASCAR on NBC, and a Major League Baseball on FOX broadcast.
