UFC On FOX 29 Gets 2 Million Viewers

Competing against the NBA and NHL playoffs on April 14th would lead to UFC on Fox 29 with the fourth-lowest viewership since joining the network.

The broadcast special which featured Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje in the main event would net a 1.25 rating with 2,020,000 viewers watching on FOX. While it would win out of the major networks, it trailed ESPN’s broadcast of the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat first round NBA Playoffs matchup with 4,018,000 viewers.

UFC On FOX 29 stands only over January 27th’s event featuring Ronaldo Souza and Derek Brunson (1,770,000), Demian Maia’s win over Carlos Condit in 2016 (1,983,000) which would be prempted due to NFL preseason football in major markets, and April 2017’s headliner of Demetrious Johnson beating Wilson Reis (1,996,000).

Per Dave Meltzer, the Poirier vs. Gaethje main event did 2,640,000 viewers, the third-lowest watched main event in series history.
