Verhoeven Faces Former UFC Fighter ‘Bigfoot’
Despite having a record of 1-8-1 in his last 10 MMA fights, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva has no intention on ending his professional career. Instead, he is making a major change as it was announced early Friday morning that Silva would be moving over to kickboxing and competing for GLORY.
Not only will he make his debut in the flagship kickboxing organization, but he will be competing against the sport’s biggest star, heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven.
Silva announced the news on his Instagram page and it was then confirmed by MMAJunkie.
The fight will take place at GLORY 46 in October and will be a non-title bout. The event takes place at the Guangzhou Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China.
Silva has suffered seven knockout losses during his recent skid. He was released by the UFC in September of 2016 after losing three consecutive fights by knockout. He then went on to fight twice for other promotions, losing a decision to Ivan Shtyrkov before being knocked out by Vitaly Minakov in June.
