Warren: Khan-Saunders Not Happening
In an interview with Boxing Scene, Promoter Frank Warren claimed that a fight between Billy Joe Saunders and Amir Khan is not happening.
Speculation was spreading that Saunders, the WBO middleweight champion, would face his fellow Brit and former world super lightweight champion in the next defense of his title.
The only other time that Khan fought at middleweight, was an unsuccessful attempt against Canelo Alvarez in May 2016. The fight which ended in a knockout of Khan was the last time we saw the former champion in the ring, ever since he has dealt with injuries and personal problems.
Saunders took to Twitter on Tuesday to express his interest in the Khan fight by saying…
I think @amirkingkhan is a good fighter and have total respect for him love the chance to have a punch up👌💨💥

When reached for comment, Warren said:
“No. That [fight] won’t happen.”
Saunders is due to return to action on December 9 in London, following his most recent world title defense against Willie Monroe Jr. which ended in a points win for the champion.
As for Khan it looks like a return to welterweight is still on the cards with a November return pencilled in for the 30-year-old.
