The upcoming fight between Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. won’t be for a belt or even take place in either man’s natural weight class, but it has a more cultural significance. The two most well-known current Mexican fighters, one of them the son of Mexico’s best boxer of all time, will fight for bragging rights in their home country.
Mexican boxers have a reputation for being warriors in the ring, tough beyond imagination and always willing to put everything on the line to win. As Canelo says, "When a Mexican is going to fight, it is synonymous with war in the ring."
