Weichel Wants To Take Pitbull’s Title And Shut Him Up
Heading into Bellator 203 on July 14th, Patricio Pitbull made it his mission to blast his opponent, Daniel Weichel, claiming the German fighter was using PEDs.
In an interview with FIGHT SPORTS this week, Pitbull, the Bellator featherweight champion, said, “to me, it shows a spiritual weakness in him, because he didn’t think he was good enough to beat me fairly, so he had to resort to cheating in order to step in the cage against me. So that makes me think that he’s weak.”
Weichel would respond to Pitbull’s claims by telling FIGHT SPORTS that his words, “doesn’t effect me at all.”
“I didn’t take (what he said) seriously, everyone knows I’m a clean fighter, that I am as clean as it gets. I like the idea of more testing, of making the sport as clean as possible.”
In their first meeting in 2015, the current featherweight champion knocked out Weichel. As he prepares for their second meeting, Weichel knows his rival is “trying to get under my skin.” “I know that I’m best prepared, in the best shape of my life, I believe in my skills 100%. I will head to Rome and do what I have to do to win this fight.”
“I love that Bellator is bringing so many shows to Europe… I’m really excited to go to the city of gladiators.”
Weichel looks to make up for his first loss, a second round knockout at Bellator 138, and has dedicated himself the last three years to become a more complete fighter.
“I’m a very different fighter right now” Weichel told FIGHT SPORTS, “Not only technically and my fighting style over the last three years, but also mentally.”
“Its not about Patricio, its about fighting the best fighters out there in the world. My goal is to fight the best fighter in the world.”
Weichel and Pitbull headline Bellator 203 on July 14th in Rome, Italy.
