White Claims UFC 229 Did “Way More” Than 2 Million

While Dana White claimed UFC 229 was tracking higher than Conor McGregor’s boxing match against Floyd Mayweather, the UFC President admitted it did not beat the 4.4 million buys of the 2017 spectacle.

Speaking with TMZ, White also claimed while it did not crack the three million mark, White claims they did accomplish their own record in buys.

“We didn’t do 3 million,” White told TMZ Sports. “But it’s so hard to crack 2 million. Even [Mike] Tyson vs. [Evander] Holyfield was at like 1.995 [million]. Things like that didn’t crack 2 million. We’re way over 2 million, so I’m happy.”

Two million buys was the mark set by McGregor’s rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 in 2016, and giving the UFC a huge boost coming off less than 150,000 buys for UFC 228.
