White Not Interested In GSP Fighting Conor-Khabib Winner
Although Dana White wants to have Georges St-Pierre fighting back in the UFC, it won’t be against the winner of the Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov fight at UFC 229.
In an interview with BBC, White talked about what could be next for the former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion and said a fight between St-Pierre and the winner of the UFC 229 main event is not an option.
“I’m not interested in that fight. He knows that and I’ve told him many times,” White said.
The reasoning, or at least part of it, stems from White wanting St-Pierre to fight at welterweight and not at lightweight. St-Pierre came back to the UFC after a four-year absence and defeated Michael Bisping last November to win the UFC middleweight title. Afterwards, St-Pierre vacated the title, a move White is still not happy about. White said St-Pierre is looking for big money fights, but the UFC President doesn’t share those same interests.
“I’m interested in Georges St-Pierre coming back at 170 [pounds]. Not at 155 pounds,” White said. “I don’t know. He’s not too excited about fighting or defending his title or anything like that. I don’t know if he’ll ever fight again.”
“Georges St-Pierre is looking for one off fights where he can make a lot of money, which it’s smart, that’s what he should do but we’re not interested in that.”
