Zuffa Boxing Looking To Sign Mikey Garcia

As reported by FIGHT SPORTS back in March, Mikey Garcia and Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing, were talking about a potential promotional deal that would bring the WBC lightweight champion to White’s new venture.

Now, it seems that the negotiations have gotten serious, as per Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, Garcia is close to signing a deal with the boxing arm of the UFC.

The four division champion is coming off a win against Sergey Lipinets, where he walked away with the IBF junior welterweight title. He would end up abdicating that championship throne, in favor of defending his WBC lightweight title, and a potential unification fight with Robert Easter Jr later in the year.

Garcia has been a pseudo free agent ever since leaving Top Rank in 2014, which would cause Garcia to be inactive for two years, and working with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions.

Garcia turned down a deal in 2017 to fight Miguel Cotto, because Cotto’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions, wanted to lock the 30 year old into a multi-fight deal.
