In the co-main event of ONE: Samurai 1, Japan’s Yuya Wakamatsu will put his 135-pound belt on the line when he meets Avazbek Kholmirzaev of Uzbekistan.
ONE: Samurai 1 is the inaugural event for ONE Championship’s new monthly blockbuster series in Tokyo. The headlining bout will kick-start the promotion’s new series of shows as Japanese kickboxing sensation Takeru Segawa gets his shot at redemption against the man that stopped him in the first round last year, Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
Wakamatsu is currently on a five-fight win streak, with knockouts over Adriano Moraes and Joshua Pacio in 2025 alone. Following these standout performances, he was voted ONE Championship’s 2025 MMA fighter of the year. Now, ‘Little Piranha’ will hope to keep his momentum on the move when he meets Kholmirzaev, who has won six straight of his own, and has certainly proved he has done enough to deserve a shot at championship gold after securing finishes in five of those six victories.
