50 Cent’s Fightland Success Follows Role in Street Fighter

50 Cent’s crime drama, Fightland, is a streaming hit in multiple markets.

The rapper turned actor and entrepreneur executive produced Fightland through his G-Unit Film & Television banner. The STARZ scripted series is set in London’s boxing scene and follows disgraced former boxing champion Maduka “Duke” Kilroy, who returns from prison seeking revenge.

The show debuted on July 31 and rose up the charts to become the No. 2 most-watched show on the STARZ platform in the United States amid positive reviews from critics. It holds the No. 7 spot in Canada and is set to debut on Sky and NOW in the United Kingdom on August 27.

The show follows confirmation that 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, will appear as Balrog in the upcoming Street Fighter adaptation.

50 Cent has previously spoken about his own experience with boxing while growing up in Queens, New York.
