A.J. McKee Hurls Ducking Accusations At Patricio ‘Pitbull’
A.J. McKee believes that Patricio “Pitbull” Freire has been avoiding a bout with him.
McKee and Freire are in the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix. Freire is also the Bellator Featherweight Champion. “Pitbull” will put his gold on the line against Pedro Carvalho on November 12. McKee will do battle with Darrion Caldwell on November 19.
McKee appeared on MMAJunkie Radio and shared his belief that Freire doesn’t truly want to fight him.
“He’s been ducking me since day one. He acts like he doesn’t know who I am or what I’m coming for. He knows that time is coming, but I’m gonna make the first fight look so easy, he’s gonna rethink the second one or his ego’s gonna get in the way and he’s really gonna want the second one. It’s gonna be another cakewalk, I told him I got that leash in the kennel, whenever he wanna go to the pound, I’m ready to take it.”
When McKee shares the cage with Caldwell, he’ll be looking to keep his unbeaten streak alive. McKee has amassed a pro MMA record of 16-0 to this point. He has finished his opponents in 11 of those victories. Six of those finishes came by way of knockout or TKO, while the other five were via submission.
McKee is coming off a third-round submission victory over Derek Campos. It was a quarterfinal bout in the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix. McKee was coming off an eight-second knockout win over Georgi Karakhanyan in an opening-round tournament match.
