Adam Piccolotti Suspended After Posting Weight-Cut Video
Bellator MMA fighter, Adam Piccolotti (13-4-0), was suspended after revealing a video of him cutting weight in a hazardous way before his latest fight in Bellator.
On February 19, he shared the octagon with Georgi Karakhanyan and earned a unanimous decision victory.
After the fight, he posted a video where he was throwing up, and did that more than 20 times.
“I reviewed the video and determined the process was unnecessarily dangerous,” Tribe director of athletic regulation Mike Mazzulli told MMA Junkie.
“We’re always concerned for fighter safety and weight cutting. Hopefully this will be a learning experience. Fortunately, he didn’t die.”
Piccolotti’s three cornermen were also fined.
“I’m concerned about his kidneys,” Mazzulli said. “Something has to be done about these unnecessarily dangerous weight cuts.”
The suspension will be maintained, according to Mazzulli, by the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports in the United States and Canada.
