Adesanya Entertains Jones Fight, Jones Responds
Israel Adesanya is squaring off against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236 this weekend, but what would happen if “The Last Stylebender” faced off with reigning UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones?
In an interview with TMZ last month, Jones stated that he has a feeling he will meet Adesanya one day down the line. That conversation came up when TMZ recently talked with Adesanya, and he feels it’s a fight that would only extend his potential legacy, which already includes a win over former longtime middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 234.
“I like challenges. [Jones] is the GOAT right now, right?” Adesanya said. “I’ve already killed one GOAT, I’m hunting the next.”
Jones wasn’t at the UFC summer kickoff press conference held yesterday due to illness, but he did manage to find the time to respond to Adesanya’s comments, warning the former GLORY Kickboxing middleweight title challenger he’s in over his head.
If you think you killed 44 yr old Anderson, you didn’t. I’m not really sure what fight you’ve been watching. You got past the legendary GOAT, now come fuck with the King of the jungle. I’ll make you call me daddy by the third.

Adesanya and Gastelum will be fighting for the interim middleweight championship, with the winner expected to meet current UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a future undisputed title fight. The winner of that fight is then slated to defend against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
Jones, meanwhile, will make his next defense of the UFC light heavyweight championship in the main event of UFC 239 this July during International Fight Week, as he takes on knockout artist Thiago Santos.
