Adesanya: Whittaker Looks Like A “Meth Head”

Interim UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya had a unique take on the shape his UFC 243 opponent and current undisputed champion Robert Whittaker was in last week for a press conference announcing their October 5th title fight.

“At the staredown, he just reminded me of like a meth head,” Adesanya told MMA Junkie. “When you look into someone’s eyes and you’re just like, yeah, and I’m looking at him like okay, cool. He’s a guy, he’s been here, he’s tough, he’s a vet in this game, so I don’t have to try and get under his skin. He’s not under my skin, and he says he doesn’t think about me, and I don’t want him to. I don’t expect him to.”

Whittaker has not fought since June of 2018, being pulled last minute due to an emergency hernia surgery hours before UFC 234, when he was set to face Kelvin Gastelum for the title.

Adesanya would go on to defeat Gastelum at UFC 236 earlier this year for the interim title.
