Adesanya Will Face Strickland After Du Plessis Declines

Israel Adesanya has ruled out fighting Dricus Du Plessis on September 9th, 2023, in Australia, after claiming that the South African doesn’t want the fight.

UFC fans were hopeful that the duo would square off after Du Plessis’ second-round TKO win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290 in what was a title eliminator.

Thereafter, Du Plessis and Adesanya had a face-off in the cage with suggestions that a fight could happen in September.

While that may have been the case, Adesanya has now stated that he will defend his middleweight title against Sean Strickland.

The latter is full of confidence having stopped Abus Magomedov in his last fight. And yet, Adesanya was not pleased to see the Du Plessis fight fall through.

“Dricus Du Pu**y you f*****g b***t. Oh, all he had to do is put (on) some gloves, I was ready to go again. No, you weren’t, you’re a b***h. That’s why you’re not taking this fight.

“Your foot’s sore. N****, my knee was jacked, too, from my last fight. Guess what I did? I showed up, because that’s what a f*****g champion does.

“Championship-caliber, built different. A lot of you fighters talk about, oh I’ll fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. No, you won’t. I do,” Adesanya
