Adrien Broner & Jovanie Santiago Speak On Feb. 20 Fight

Adrien Broner and Jovanie Santiago have weighed in on their upcoming clash.

On February 20, Broner and Santiago will share the ring in a super-lightweight clash. The bout will serve as the main event of a Showtime tripleheader. The action will be held inside the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

In a Showtime Sports press release, Broner discussed returning to the ring to take on Santiago.

“I can’t wait to get back into the ring. It’s been a while. This will give me a chance to display my talents and show everybody what they’ve been missing. I’ve been training and working very hard and everybody will see all of that hard work come together on February 20 on SHOWTIME.’’

Santiago also weighed in on getting the biggest opportunity of his pro boxing career.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to step into the ring against Adrien Broner. I believe our styles are perfect for each other. But I feel like I have the skills that are necessary to beat him. I just fought a couple months ago so I feel good with the way my training has gone. I’m going to shock everyone on February 20.”

Broner hasn’t competed since January 2019. He went one-on-one with Manny Pacquiao for the WBA (Regular) Welterweight Championship. “The Problem” fell short in the bout, losing via unanimous decision. Broner’s bout with Santiago will be his first fight in over two years.

Santiago has a pro boxing record of 14-0-1. Along the way, he’s scored 10 knockouts. Back in December 2020, Santiago defeated Juan Zegarra via knockout.
