Adrien Broner has revealed he came close to trading punches with Jon Jones at a recent Las Vegas party, saying the former UFC heavyweight champion was heavily intoxicated and became aggressive toward him.
“He cussed me out real bad that last time I was with him. He was real drunk. He was just intoxicated. I wouldn’t let that go with anybody else, but it was him, and I’m like, ‘I know he’s drunk.’ He was cooked. He was so drunk,” Broner
Broner said he held back out of consideration for Jones’ state but made clear the situation came very close to turning physical.
“He’s good, but he almost felt my left hook that night. It was bad. This was not too long ago in Vegas. He was drunk and just talking,'” Broner
Jones has requested his UFC release following a dispute with UFC CEO Dana White over his exclusion from the White House card on June 14. Contract negotiations broke down after Jones was left off UFC Freedom 250, prompting him to publicly demand his freedom from the promotion — a request that, as of writing, has not been granted.
