AJ McKee Moves Up Bellator’s Pound-For-Pound Rankings Following Title Win
After AJ McKee snatched the title from Patricio “The Pitbull” Freire at Bellator 263, he’s climbed to the top of Bellator’s pound-for-pound rankings.
Bellator’s ranking is listed by 17 media members. As the majority decided, McKee remains at the top of the rankings – with an undefeated 18-0 record — as the Pitbull follows right behind him.
McKee, 26, could have potential of holding the throne for a long time and establish more records in the American promotion.
McKee defeated Pitbull at the beginning of the first round, first dropping his rival with a high kick. He finished him with a guillotine choke.
With the win, he earned the title, legacy, and $1 million in few minutes.
Though Freire lost his title, he remains one of the best fighters of the promotion. He held the featherweight title, moved up at lightweight, and dethroned Michael Chandler.
As Pitbull and his corner said at the press conference, nothing is over it.
