AJ Vs. Wilder Will Not Happen – Says Frank Warren

Queensbury Promotions’ Frank Warren has dismissed the idea of a fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

Following Joshua’s seventh-round stoppage of Robert Helenius, the attention turned towards a fight with Wilder. This was in line with reports that Saudi Arabia was looking to host the fight at the end of the year or early 2024. Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn had stated on numerous occasions that a deal was in place, subject to a contract offer. Although that may be the case, the absence of an offer has resulted in Hearn considering other options for AJ. After all, Joshua admitted that his intention was to fight three times this year. However, for Warren, he did not see the fight taking place.

“The Deontay Wilder & Anthony Joshua situation. I know their people had conversations and thought that it would happen, but I never thought it would happen, and it’s not,” Warren

As a result, Warren has called on Joshua to take on Daniel Dubois in a big domestic clash. The latter is currently appealing his loss to Oleksandr Usyk on the basis that his punch in the fifth round was not a low blow. Regardless of whether that appeal is successful, Warren wanted to see his fighter get a chance against AJ.

“I’ll tell you a good fight if that doesn’t happen. You know what would be a good fight in the UK and people would buy tickets to watch it and we’ll see who is the biggest puncher and who has got the biggest heart? Him [Joshua] and Daniel Dubois. That would sell out anywhere,” Warren
