Alberto Puello will be removed from the WBA rankings following his recent failed VADA test.
According to reports, Puello tested positive for Clomiphene in April. That resulted in his fight with Rolando Romero being called off.
As a result, the WBA title became vacant as Rolly faced Ismael Barroso and came out victorious to secure the belt.

Although Puello did work with the authorities to get a conclusion, he became a ‘champion in recess’ as the investigation continued.
“We already sent the evidence to the proper agencies. We have proof of the doctor visits, the hospital stays, and his wife’s pregnancy,” Belgica Peña (Puello’s promoter)
As a result, the Nevada State Athletic Commission gave Puello a ban until October 5th, 2023.
As such, the fighter will be removed from the rankings until then, as the WBA endorsed the Nevada Athletic Commission’s decision. Thereafter, Puello will be allowed to re-enter the rankings.
