Aleksandar Rakic Suffers Torn ACL In Loss To Jan Blachowicz, To Undergo Surgery
Aleksandar Rakic confirmed he will need surgery.
Rakic suffered a torn ACL after suffering his third loss against former champion Jan Blachowicz in his latest appearance at UFC Vegas 54.
He held two great rounds against Blachowicz, but in the third round, he could not continue the fight because of the injury he originally sustained during training camp.
Blachowicz defended his No. 1 spot in the light heavyweight division and will most likely face the winner of Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka’s title fight.
It is unclear how long it takes to recover fully. The surgery has yet to be scheduled.
However, typically, it could take 9-12 months to recover from a torn ACL.
Prior to the injury, Rakic and Blachowicz were tied on the scorecards 19-19, having split the first two rounds.
Major respect to Jan Blachowicz for not following up and giving Rakic any unnecessary punishment. He tells Rakic post-fight, “You’ll be champion one day.” #UFCVegas54
