Alers vs. Garcia Tops BKFC 7 on Aug. 10

Jim Alers will be stepping in for Jason Knight to take on Leonard Garcia in the main event of BKFC 7, which takes place on Aug. 10 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi, per a report from MMA Fighting.

Alers won his bare-knuckle boxing debut at BKFC 6, defeating Elvin Leon Brito. A former Cage Warriors champion, he is 14-4 (1 NC) as an MMA fighter and went 1-2 (1 NC) in the UFC between 2014 and 2016. Alers’ last UFC fight came against Knight, where he dropped a decision in a bout named Fight of the Night.

Garcia went 18-13-1 in MMA and is a veteran of the WEC, UFC and Legacy Fighting Championships (now LFA). Garcia challenged Mike Brown for the WEC Featherweight Title in 2009 but was quickly submitted in the first round. Garcia’s went just 1-5 in the UFC and is perhaps best known as being the victim of the twister submission from “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung.

After the UFC, Garcia went 3-2 in the LFC before retiring in 2014. He made his bare-knuckle debut in February with a win over Julian Lane.
