Alex Pereira Makes Quick Work Of Jamahal Hill At UFC 300, Executes First Round KO To Retain Title

Responding to Jamahal Hill’s trash talk in the UFC 300 buildup, Alex Pereira expressed that he will ‘make him remember this moment’ when it came time to fight. Tonight inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, “Poatan” did just that.

The pair squared off in the main event of the monumental UFC 300 PPV event, and after an exciting evening of fights, they had a lot to follow. Luckily, the headliner delivered to conclude an action packed evening, with Pereira delivering a well-placed left hook that put Hill out almost instantaneously.

Through his victory over the former 205-pound titleholder, Pereira achieved his first successful title defense in his time with the UFC. In less than three years with the organization, the reining light heavyweight champion has achieved gold in two weight classes, and it seems that the former Glory Kickboxing star is only getting started.

In what was expected to be a quite evenly matched fight, Pereira has once again shown that when it comes to striking, the Brazilian specialist is just on a higher level than a huge percentage of the competition.

While things did end abruptly, Hill seemed to be holding his own in the standup game part way in to the first round, but that abrupt ending came at just over the halfway mark of the opening stanza. While gradually walking his opponent to the edge of the octagon, Pereira unleashed a lightning fast left hook, marking the beginning of the end for Hill’s goal of regaining the title on this night.

It may have seemed like Pereira already had enough to celebrate by defending his title in such a dominant fashion, but as an added achievement, the champion was presented with his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt by lead coach Glover Teixeira.

Pereira is now 3-0 in the 205-pound division, and has only suffered one loss in his time with the UFC, to former middleweight king Israel Adesanya. Having only made 12 professional MMA appearances so far, what he has been able to achieve in such a short amount of time, and against such high-level competition, is nothing short of incredible.

Official Result: Alex Pereira def. Jamahal Hill via KO (Left Hook to Ground Strikes) – Round 1, 3:14
