Alex Pereira Outlines His Plans Following Brutal KO Defeat To Israel Adesanya

In the aftermath of Israel Adesanya’s vicious knockout of Alex Pereira in UFC 287, there had been speculation over the Brazilian’s next move.

Reports had indicated that Pereira could make a potential transition to the light-heavyweight division.

And now, he has clarified his future, indicating that he still has some feats that he wants to accomplish by moving up to light heavyweight.

In his comments, he said“My next fight will be (at) 205 (light heavyweight). Yeah, you heard right.

“I think I did my work (at middleweight) and now I’m feeling good to go up to 205.

“Like I told you, when I’m feeling good, I will go up. This will be something natural, and now I think it is.”

While that may be the case, an opponent is not forthcoming, as Pereira failed to disclose who he would be fighting next. Regardless, Pereira is targeting the chance to become a champion in two-weight classes.

And one man who has welcomed the challenge is Jan Blachowicz. Besides battling Adesanya, Blachowicz would also be receptive to taking on Pereira.

“I don’t think about him right now, but I think yeah, why not (fight him)? I like challenges (and) he’s a very big challenge.

“This fight will also be very big, very great. So, why not? But we will see what’s gonna be his next move,” Blachowicz
