New training footage shows Alex Pereira’s (13-3) power at his new 250-pound physique for his UFC Freedom 250 June 14 interim heavyweight title fight with Ciryl Gane.
The former middleweight and light heavyweight champion is attempting to become the first fighter in UFC history to capture world titles in three different weight divisions. A win would take him a step closer to facing the current heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, who is currently recovering from the bilateral traumatic brown’s syndrome he suffered in the Gane fight last October after the latter’s accidental eye pokes.
The footage shows Pereira working closely with his long-time trainer Glover Teixeira. Pereira can be seen hitting combinations to the head and body, with his speed on display. Despite the 45-pound jump from his light heavyweight days, Pereira’s power seems to have amplified.
