Former UFC Flyweight Champion Alexa Grasso (17-4-1) secured a Knockout of the Year contender win over Maycee Barber at UFC Seattle last weekend.
Grasso’s victory ended Barber’s impressive seven-fight win streak, as Grasso needed less than four minutes to get the stoppage. After a brief feeling-out process, Grasso timed a Barber entry with a counter left hook. The shot sent Barber semi-conscious against the cage. As Barber hit the canvas, Grasso transitioned instantly to the back and locked in a rear-naked choke. Referee Mike Beltran dove in to stop the bout at 3:42 of Round 1 as it became clear Barber was completely unconscious. In the post fight press press conference, “UFC CEO” reacted to the vicious knockout by saying “I think it is one of the greatest in sports history, let alone this year, tonight or whatever, “It was incredible.”
