Alexander Hernandez, Renato Moicano Are Matching Up At UFC 271

Alexander Hernandez is stepping into the octagon for the third time this year.

Hernandez (13-4) will meet Brazilian jiu-jitsu master Renato Moicano (15-4-1) on February 12 for UFC 271, MMA Junkie reported.

So far this year, Hernandez was defeated by Thiago Moises, but he earned a brutal KO victory against Mike Breeden in October.

Hernandez has been a member of the UFC since 2018 and has already fought eight times. He earned an impressive KO victory in his debut against current No. 3 ranked lightweight Beneil Dariush. However, he suffered three losses in the UFC after that.

He is only 29 years old, and defeating a name like Moicano can set him up to become another contender for the lightweight division.

Moicano has been fighting in the UFC since 2014.

He earned victories against names like Zubaira Tukhugov, Jeremy Stephens, Calvin Kattar, Cub Swanson and shared the octagon with guys like Brian Ortega and Jose Aldo.

In 2021, he fought only once against Jai Herbert and earned a second-round submission victory. In his career, he has had 15 victories, and eight of them are via submissions.

Here’s the projected line-up for UFC 271:

  • Douglas Silva de Andrade vs. Sergey Morozov
  • AJ Dobson vs. Jacob Malkoun
  • Kyler Phillips vs. Marcelo Rojo
