Ali Revival Act Headed To Senate Following House Approval
The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act, a bill for altering professional boxing regulations on a federal level, passed a vote on the House floor this Tuesday and will now move to the Senate.
A large factor of the bill is that it will make changes to allow Unified Boxing Organizations (UBO) to operate independently without the influence of boxing’s current sanctioning bodies. The bill is heavily backed by Zuffa Boxing and Dana White for the obvious reason that he intends to create what a good deal of might refer to as ‘the UFC of boxing.’ Additionally, there is a large amount of support from the Saudi Entertainment Authority regarding the future of these changes to the sport’s foundation.

Back in January, the bill passed the House Committee’s vote in an absolute landslide of 30-4, but also was affected by multiple amendments. The changes to the bill included a higher pay structure, increased insurance, and, on a significant note, that organizations will need to offer competitors one fight every 6 months.
Since the bill has now passed the House floor, it will now need to pass the Senate with 60 votes. Following the Senate, the bill will then go to the President’s desk for final approval.
“The House of Representatives made history today by passing by voice vote landmark boxing legislation that will revive one of America’s greatest sports in the name of one of America’s greatest athletes,” Congressman Brian Jack said in a press release after the bill’s passing. “Professional boxing is the only sport regulated by Congress, and ambiguity in current law — adopted over a quarter century ago – has adversely affected boxers and stifled investment. The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act strengthens safety protections for boxers, improves the quality of life for boxers, and establishes a framework for innovation within the sport to flourish.”
