Alistair Overeem Finishes Augusto Sakai In Final Round
UFC on ESPN+ 34 is in the books and Alistair Overeem has nabbed his 47th pro MMA win.
In the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 34, Overeem and Augusto Sakai did battle. The action was held inside the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. From the prelims to the main card, this event aired live on ESPN+.
Overeem vs. Sakai went to the fifth and final round but Overeem made sure that the judges weren’t needed. Despite Sakai’s efforts, it was the ground-and-pound of “The Reem” that proved to be too much. His elbows sealed the deal for the fifth-round TKO victory.
The co-main event saw Ovince Saint Preux shut the lights off Alonzo Menifield. “OSP” scored a second-round knockout victory. Also featured on the main card was a battle between Michel Pereira and Zelim Imadaev. Pereira scored a submission win late in the third round.
Also on the main card, Andre Muniz submitted Bartosz Fabinski. Brian Kelleher scored a submission win as well over Ray Rodriguez. Rodriguez had served as a late replacement opponent after Kevin Natividad was removed from the card due to undisclosed reasons. It was one of several last-minute changes that were made to the UFC on ESPN+ 34 card.
