All Misdemeanor Battery Charges Dropped Against Chael Sonnen

Chael Sonnen had all his charges dropped.

The former UFC title challenger had all five misdemeanor battery charges dismissed, which were handed to him last month after getting into an alleged physical altercation with a couple at the Four Seasons hotel in Las Vegas.

Sonnen was reportedly seen banging on a hotel room door after 7 p.m., witnesses said.

A man then opened the door, confronting Sonnen, and the two got tangled in a physical altercation. A woman was allegedly heard screaming for help, but it’s unclear if she was physically involved.

Las Vegas police and local paramedics responded to the scene. Video footage surfaced of Sonnen being taken away in handcuffs, but it was later reported that he wasn’t being arrested, he was being detained and was cited his charges later.

It’s unclear if anyone received medical attention.

Sonnen competed in the UFC from 2009 to 2013. He became well-known for his trash-talking, but also his rise to becoming a top contender in light heavyweight and middleweight divisions.

He became a MMA analyst for ESPN, and most recently joined Khabib Nurmagomedov’s EFC as a commentator and analyst.
