Alvarez Wishes McGregor Well in Fatherhood
In the buildup to UFC 205, then-champion Eddie Alvarez was the subject of Conor McGregor’s vicious pre-fight vitriol. To make matters worse, Alvarez lost to McGregor in brutal fashion at the Madison Square Garden mega-show. Months later, however, Alvarez clearly has no ill feelings towards his former opponent.
Alvarez returns to the cage this weekend at UFC 211, taking on Dustin Poirier in a fight that can propel him back to the top of the division.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Alvarez was asked if he had any advice for McGregor, who recently became a father. Given the heated back and forth between the two before their fight, Alvarez was a particularly good sport when speaking about his former rival.
"He’s doing quite well, man," Alvarez said. "I think he’s gonna do a good job. If he puts 10 percent of the effort that he does in fighting into his child, I think he’s gonna do damn good. So I wish him the best of luck."
