Alycia Baumgardner Responds To Her Positive Test – ‘No Intention Of Sitting Back In Silence’
Alycia Baumgardner has responded following her positive test for Mesterolone and Methenolone.
Dan Rafael had confirmed that the undisputed junior lightweight champion tested positive following a urine test conducted on July 12th, 2023, three days before her victory over Christina Linardatou.

The news was the last thing that the boxing community needed, given Conor Benn, Amir Khan and Dillian Whyte’s latest failed test.
As a result, any hopes of Baumgardner facing Amanda Serrano or Katie Taylor moving forward have been dismissed for now.
Although that may have been the case, Baumgardner has maintained that she will get to the bottom of this.
“To be abundantly clear, I know that I never have, never would, and never will take this or any other drug. Not only would doing so be unethical, but it would also be completely contrary to how I’ve trained my entire career.
“As a professional athlete, I and I alone am responsible for what I put in my body, and my body is a temple. I am also a proud role model for any young woman or girl who seeks to follow in my footsteps.
“I take those responsibilities very seriously -which is why I know that I did not and would never put these substances in my body. I plan to keep you all updated every step of the way as I work to ensure my reputation as a clean athlete remains fully intact,” Baumgardner
I’m not overthinking this situation. I know me, and stand ten toes down!

This was on the basis that she alleged that her samples provided after the fight and one around a month before on June 16th, 2023, were negative.
As such, the boxer questioned the results claiming a positive test was ‘essentially impossible.’ Nevertheless, if strict liability is enforced, then Baumgardner may get a hefty ban.
Regardless of what the case may be, the boxer faces a fight on her hands to prove her innocence moving forward. And there is no getting away from that.
