Amanda Lino Continues To Make EFC History

When EFC returns with EFC 70 on May 26th, Amanda Lino looks to make history. Not only will she attempt to become a two division champion, she will also become the first woman in EFC history to be in the main event twice.

In an exclusive conversation with FIGHT SPORTS, Lino claimed she is “incredibly grateful” to return to the main event, where she and Jacqualine Trosee were the first women with that honor at EFC 60.

“I believe the hard work and dedication I and those around me, from my team and my family and friends, has paid off,” Lino said this week.

The task is not easy for the South African star, as she has to move up from flyweight to fight for the vacant bantamweight title, against Rizlen Zouak.

Lino has welcomed the move up from flyweight, wanting to focus more on strength training, “With the weight training, I’ve adjusted my other training around it, to help with recovery time, I also have adjusted my diet plan, with my coach/nutritionist Rodney van der Vulgt… I’ve really enjoyed the challenge and new addition to my daily training.”

With one belt on her shoulder, some would think Lino may be looking ahead to her next title defense, but she’s only concerned with May 26th in Durban.

“My goal right now is to focus on the task ahead, and that’s this fight… I’m putting all I have into this fight, I want blood, and I want to walk away earning that belt.”
