Live from Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California, Amanda Serrano successfully defended her featherweight titles with a majority decision win over Argentina’s Lucrecia Manzur in Friday evening’s main event.
Heading into the night, Manzur was riding a four-fight win streak, including an impressive finish of Lucrecia Belen Arrieta last year, in which she put her punching power on display. Meanwhile, Serrano had bounced back from her two straight losses to Katie Taylor with victories over both Reina Tellez and Nahir Erlin, picking up the WBO and WBA titles in the process.
Despite Manzur’s frequent forward pressure and volume punching, Serrano picked her analyzed the situation well, waited for her opportunities to strike appropriately, and capitalized on many holes in her opponent’s defense. But even though Serrano’s counter-punching ability was completely on point, Manzur showed extreme grit and determination and continued to fight with forward pressure, in an attempt to put the champion on her back foot and in a more defensive mindset.
After the twelve rounds of women’s championship boxing were in the books, the judges declared Serrano the winner by majority decision with the scorecards reading 116-112, 116-112, and 114-114.
Through this victory, Serrano achieved a historic 50th career victory since starting her professional career back in 2014. While she has not yet named who she hopes to fight next, she did state that her next match will most likely occur in early 2027, and will be her retirement bout.
