Amir Khan has been given a two-year ban from boxing due to a failed drug test following his loss against Kell Brook.
Khan lost his grudge match against his nemesis Brook in the sixth round, which turned out to be his last professional fight.
Though he announced his retirement later, it has recently come to light that he failed a drug test soon after the fight.
Reports indicate that Khan was notified of his positive test for ostarine, a prohibited substance commonly found in supplements that promote muscle development.
He was allegedly charged two months after being notified of the test results. With that being said, UKAD has now had their say on the matter.

“Professional boxer and Olympic medallist Amir Khan has been banned from all sport for two years following Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) for the presence and use of a Prohibited Substance.
“On February 19, 2022, UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) collected an In-Competition urine Sample from Mr Khan after his fight against Kell Brook at the Manchester Arena. Mr Khan’s Sample returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for ostarine.
“Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM). The substance is listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) 2022 Prohibited List as an anabolic agent and is prohibited in sport at all times.”
This is just another incident casting a poor light on the sport of boxing following Conor Benn’s two positive tests for Clomiphene.
And the calls for Benn to get a similar ban may increase, as per UKAD’s policy of strict liability, regardless of intention.
And with serious question marks over the credibility of drug testing when it comes to enforcement, as well as the lack of transparency with the public, boxing fans have made their voices heard.
