Bella Mir Opens Up Following Stunning Upset Loss

Bella Mir has vowed to return stronger after suffering her first professional MMA defeat on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Alongside a photograph from her defeat to Apodaca, Mir shared pictures from previous losses and second-place finishes on Instagram, highlighting the setbacks she has already overcome throughout her athletic career.

The 23-year-old entered Tuesday’s main event as the biggest betting favourite at -6000 in the show’s history. However, Alex Apodaca (4-1) neutralised Mir’s wrestling and earned a unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the bout 29-28.

“I’ve lost so many times,” Mir wrote. “Big or small, each loss carries me into a different mindset and learning experience to be a better athlete.”

The daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir thanked her supporters and showed respect to Apodaca, who earned a UFC contract.

“No loss has ever defined me, and neither will this one,” Mir added.
