David Benavidez, a former two-time WBC super middleweight champion who has never been defeated, is set to defend his interim WBC title against Caleb Plant, a former holder of the IBF title, in the main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on March 25th, 2023.
The co-main event will feature a ten-round bout at super welterweight between Joey Spencer (16-0, 10 KOs) and Jesus Alejandro Ramos (19-0, 15 KOs).
The undercard will also include a ten-round lightweight fight between Chris Colbert (16-1, 6 KOs) and Jose Valenzuela (12-1, 8 KOs).
And to kick things off, the first bout will be a ten-round welterweight match-up between Cody Crowley (21-0, 9 KOs) and Abel Ramos (27-5-2, 21 KOs).
Both Benavidez and Plant were required to weigh in at 168 lbs, or less. Benavidez’s past struggles with weight management are well known.
He previously lost his WBC super-middleweight title after failing to make weight. With that being said, here is everything that happened.
Benavidez and Plant successfully weighed in for their upcoming fight in Las Vegas, both comfortably under the 168 lb limit. Thereafter, Plant even touched Benavidez’s chin before they were separated.
“We were just exchanging pleasantries, telling each other how much we like each other. He’s been talking a lot about how much he’s going to whip my ass. We’re gonna see tomorrow. I win in fashion, get my hand raised in fashion,” Plant
“He tried to put his finger in my face and I had to push his ass back, but he knows what’s up. His man’s gonna have to pick him up off the fuckin’ ground when he’s leaking all that blood. It speaks for itself. I’m on weight, I’ve been on weight all week, and I’m ready to take this motherfucker’s head off,” Benavidez
