Bisping Warns Chandler: Don’t Underestimate McGregor

Michael Bisping has told Michael Chandler not to underestimate Conor McGregor.

The two fighters put it on the line at UFC 303 on June 29 with question marks over their form. McGregor is returning from a career-threatening injury after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in his defeat at UFC 264 in 2021. That was McGregor’s third defeat in his last four UFC fights. Chandler has not had a bout since losing to Poirier at UFC 281 in November 2022.

Chandler chose to wait and pursue the McGregor fight rather than take any fights in between. That inactivity could backfire, with McGregor desperate to show his skills. The Notorious is a former two-division champion who has won on the biggest stage. It will be a pro-McGregor crowd, meaning Chandler must make it a decisive win. While Chandler expected McGregor not to be the same fighter, Bisping warned the American of being complacent.

“I think I hit harder than he does. His time out of the cage has lent itself to his timing not being what it used to be, his movement not being what it used to be, his reflexes not being what they used to be. He’s been out of the cage three years by the time we fight. …Go out there and get the finish and just absolutely outclass and dominate him,” Chandler said

“The man [Chandler] is explosive every single time he fights.  He’s phenomenal. Win or lose, he shows up. Against Justin Gaethje, against Dustin Poirier – two of the best fights the UFC has ever put on. So, I can’t wait for this fight, but he has to respect what McGregor is going to do and the threat that’s coming back at him,” Bisping stated
