Canelo Will Be ‘100 Percent’ Ready For Jermell Charlo

Canelo Alvarez is targeting a spectacular performance when he squares off in an undisputed battle against Jermell Charlo.

The two fighters will face each other on September 30th, 2023, as Alvarez defends all of his belts at 168. Charlo will aim to shock the world by becoming undisputed in a second weight class.

The odds are against him since he will be moving up two weight divisions and fight above 154 for the first time in his career. Although that may be the case, Canelo has not looked himself of late.

His defeat to Dmitry Bivol took a shine off his recent accomplishments. In the aftermath, the failure to stop an older Gennady Golovkin and a 34-year-old John Ryder suggested Alvarez was on the decline.

Nevertheless, Alvarez did add some context to those claims. After the Bivol fight, the Mexican underwent surgery on his wrist with suggestions that he was compromised during the Bivol fight.

Meanwhile, the Mexican also dismissed suggestions that he was taking his eye off the ball after having been spotted drinking and hitting the golf course.

So come fight night, Canelo has vowed to prove his critics wrong.

“I can tell you right now a lot of things. I’m going to do this, I’m going to be different, I’m going to make this and that. But in the fight you will see the difference. I always prove [myself] in the fight.

“When you get into the fight, you don’t have confidence to go [all out], to go 100 percent, to throw punches [all out]. But now I feel 100 percent. I can throw my hand, I can work with [trainer] Eddy [Reynoso] on the pads, I can throw my hand hard.

“That makes me feel confident in the fight. When I’m able to train 100 percent, I know I have everything to put into the fight,” Canelo
