Cory Sandhagen To Face Umar Nurmagomedov At UFC Abu Dhabi This August

In a highly anticipated 135-pound matchup, Corey Sandhagen versus Umar Nurmagomedov has officially been scheduled for August 3rd, when the UFC returns to Abu Dhabi.

The bout was originally supposed to take place almost exactly one year ago, but Nurmagomed was sidelined due to an injury. Sandhagen would go on to fight Rob Font instead, winning by way of unanimous decision. Since then, many fans have been calling for the re-booking of what is expected to be a quite exciting stylistic matchup.

Now, the pair will square off in a five round main event, under the lights of Etihad Arena.

This past March, Nurmagomedov made his first octagon appearance since recovering from his injury, and managed to add a 17th win to his undefeated record with a unanimous decision victory over Bekzat Almakhan. But, many feel that Sandhagen will likely be the Russian’s first real test to see if he can continue his winning ways against higher ranked opponents.

Sanhagen will also be fighting to continue a win streak, as he has found success in his last 3 showings. But, with not having fought in one year, some wonder if ring rust could play a factor.
